Job summary

Industry Talent Consultant (ITC) Level I plays a crucial role in addressing industry-related workforce challenges. As an integral member of the ITC team, you will work under supervision, gaining knowledge and experience while contributing to the successful implementation of grants and strategies aimed at enhancing the industry workforce. The primary focus will be on supporting industry-specific initiatives, workshops, and training programs. This position will allow be involved in or create industry awareness functions, recruiting, developing career pathways, retention projects, incumbent worker projects, creating apprenticeships, and other workforce innovative ventures. The ITC has knowledge and expertise in a specific industry and serves as an internal and external consultative role in educating AAWDC staff, leadership, and key partners in the current and future industry workforce needs. The position works closely with internal staff and external stakeholders to identify potential candidates interested in and eligible for entering or transitioning into the industry. The ITC determines if a candidate is “training-ready” to ensure maximum success during training and attaining certification. The ITC works with businesses representing the industry to engage them in training and recruitment processes. This level works closely with the Director Industry Solutions.

Job responsibilities

Supporting Industry-Specific Workforce Trends: Under guidance, you will assist in monitoring and reporting on industry-specific workforce trends, regional and national labor markets, and business demographics. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to share insights and best practices.

Building Industry Partnerships: Work closely with industry representatives to establish and nurture partnerships. Your role involves assisting with providing solutions and identifying opportunities for collaboration with industry-specific employers.

Data Analysis: Assist in analyzing and interpreting data related to industry employment trends and opportunities. You will contribute to the decision-making process by providing valuable data insights.

Grant Management: Under supervision, participate in the implementation and management of grants aimed at addressing industry-specific workforce challenges. This includes supporting grant-related activities and documentation.

Community Engagement: Collaborate with colleagues to participate in industry events and partnerships, where you will gather insights into current and future staffing needs, job skills, and training requirements within the industry. Organizing and spearheading industry information and training sessions.

Technical Support: Provide technical support and assist in delivering program-related activities, ensuring successful execution. Facilitate and coordinate work-and-learn initiatives, on-the-job training (OJT), incumbent worker programs, and apprenticeships with specific businesses in their respective industries.

Pipeline Development: Contribute to building and maintaining partnerships with AAWDC staff, apprenticeship programs, businesses, and other stakeholders to establish a strong pipeline of potential employees and program participants.

Collaboration: Collaborate with internal and external partners to enhance employment and training opportunities, with a focus on retention and career development pathways.
Program Integration: Collaborate seamlessly with other AAWDC programs and initiatives while overseeing the implementation of the AAWDC industry training model.

Data Management: Utilize databases to record and track partner interactions and business transactions accurately.

Additional Duties: Be open to taking on additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director Industry Solutions or Vice President of Business and Industry Solutions.

Qualifications & requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in workforce or business development and/or industry-specific experience.
  • Completion of Project Management coursework or training (preferred).
  • Ability to work effectively in a positive team environment and a willingness to be coached.
  • Excellent communication skills, including clear and accurate writing and persuasive oral communication.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop creative solutions for industry-specific issues.
  • Business development and networking skills.

Salary

$65-$70,000.00
