Health Assistants

$18.47/hour | Full-Time or Part-Time Contractual

Under the supervision of the appropriate School Health Nurse, this position manages the activities of the schools health room. These duties include first aid and administration of medication as delegated by the school nurse. Responsibilities may include a variety of health tasks and clerical work in assisting students with health related needs. Nature of work involves lifting, positioning, transferring, and aiding in bodily functions as needed. Current Driver's License and reliable transportation required.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

$26.97/hr | Contractual, 32.5 hours/week

Under the supervision of the appropriate School Health Nurse, this position provides one-on-one care for special needs students in Anne Arundel County Public Schools. This position may require accompanying the students on the bus to and from school. This position makes nursing judgments and performs technical procedures within the scope of his/her practice/licensure to meet the health needs of students. Responsibilities may also include a variety of health tasks and clerical work in assisting students with special health requirements, to include lifting, positioning, transferring and aiding the bodily functions. Orientation and training are provided.

License: Must possess a current license as a Practical Nurse from the Maryland Board of Nursing. Experience with tracheostomy tubes and medication distribution preferred.

Registered Nurse (RN)

$38.64/hr | Contractual, 37.5 hours/week

Under the supervision of the appropriate Program Supervisor, this is the professional health services (school nurse) component of the pupil services team. Functions as liaison between the Anne Arundel County Department of Health, Anne Arundel County Public Schools, one or more designated schools, the student and his/her family, and the students health care provider. Provides appropriate health services, supervision of delegated nursing tasks, counseling and resources referral to students, parents and staff at assigned schools during the school year.

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurse (preference will be given to applicants with a bachelors degree in nursing). Excellent opportunity for those currently pursuing their MSN.
Experience: Two years of experience as a registered nurse.
License: Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing.

NursePositions in Disease Prevention

Registered Nurse (RN)

$30.44/hr with county benefits or $33.11/hr without county benefits | Day/Evening/Weekend Hours

Under appropriate supervision, assists with COVID testing, COVID vaccination or COVID contact tracing efforts based on need.  The selected candidate should have clinical experience and be able to assist in all aspects of clinic operations, including serving as clinic lead, vaccine manager and/or safety officer as needed.  The selected candidate should also have excellent interpersonal and assessment skills and be culturally sensitive so that they are able to build and maintain trust with patients and contacts.  Additionally, this position requires someone who has the ability to present information in an empathetic manner and clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.  The selected candidate will be required to have a valid Maryland RN license, personal vehicle available for use with mileage reimbursement provided per Department of Health policies and will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland. The position will be required to work day shift, evening shift and weekends as needed and be able to stand, walk, bend and lift 25 lbs. Individuals fluent in Spanish and English encouraged to apply.   

Must be organized, with the ability to multitask and the ability to lead a clinic and provide direction to clinic staff. Excellent problem solving skills, vaccine management experience, excellent computer skills.

Previous charge nurse experience. Willing to work outdoors during inclement weather

Behavior Health Specialist

$28/hour | Full-Time Contractual

The Behavioral Health Specialist is a member of a two-person team that supports the County’s Hub and Spoke program. The program is designed to not only further expand access to buprenorphine to those with opioid use disorders residing in the county but will provide the needed coordination to create a robust bidirectional transfer of individuals based on level of need. The team works with the spoke sites to coordinate patient care within the hub and spoke network. The team travels to multiple spoke sites meeting regularly with physicians and other staff to discuss cases; provides assessment, recommendations and referrals; develops protocols; and provides coordination among staff and sites providing services for the individual.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Two years of experience in substance use treatment
  • Licensed by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors or the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners
  • Knowledge and experience working with individuals with opioid use disorders

Nurse Coordinator

$30-22/hr | Full-Time Contractual

Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.

Experience:

  • Experience with substance use disorder screenings and medications used in the treatment of opioid use disorders.
  • Ability to manage competing demands
  • Possesses strong critical thinking and interpersonal skills

Notes:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and one year of experience as a registered nurse may be substituted for the required education.
