Ms Coates, an FSS client, was unemployed and looking for training in the healthcare field. The Career Navigation Specialist at Meade Village worked in tandem with the Housing Commission, to assist Ms Coates in achieving the goals she set within the Financial Self-sufficiency Program. She was interested in obtaining her CNA/GNA certification, Phlebotomy, GED, and ultimately to purchase a home.
Ms Coates attended Meade's "Tools for Employment" training,(resume, interviewing skills, and job search strategies workshops. She completed the CNA/GNA training, the Phlebotmy training, and is looking forward to starting her PCT training, while in the meantime working on her GED.
Ms Coates is currently employed at Baltimore Washington Medical Center, as a Companion. She recently attended the Meade Financial Literacy training, facilitated by ACDS. After the training, she registered to be a part of the 1st time Home buyers program. She met with Ms McGeth from ACDS, at the end of March 2019, to provide the required documentation.
Ms Coates completed the goals she set 2 years ago, for the FSS Program, and will receive a check from the Housing Commission for her accomplishments, by the end of April 2019.
